Summer Internships at ISDSI

Internships at ISDSI

Come do an internship in Thailand! ISDSI has over 25 years of experience placing students with local organizations, making sure your experience is authentic and collaborative.

ISDSI offers independent 8 week internships in the summer (June through July).

Internships are a unique opportunity to explore a field or topic you are interested in, help you prepare for graduate school, explore an area you are curious about, or see if this might be something you’d like to do more of in the future.

Each internship placement is developed in collaboration with the student as well as the host organization.  In Thailand most organizations do not have a “list” of available internships, but instead are willing to work with ISDSI and the student to create unique learning opportunities for students.

We work with a wide variety of NGOs (non-government organizations), government clinics and offices, small businesses, community enterprises, and others.

Some of the areas where we have placed students include (but are not limited to!) the following:

  • Sustainable agriculture
  • Public health
  • Veterinary and pre-vet animal care
  • Child development
  • Education
  • Environmental science
  • Community development
  • Human rights
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Health care
  • and more!

Here are some example placements

Student learning about how Thai Traditional Medicine practices at Khua Mung Thai Traditional Medicine center, Saraphi hospital.

Students discussing with stakeholders about river management and related outreach activity in Chiang Mai with the coordinating committee for the protection of Ping River Basin and Environment (CCPE).

Community based internship in Maetha, assisting with seed saving and organic farming activities, creating firebreaks, as well as managing water and fertilizer for the crops.

The student is doing their internship at the Dulabhatorn Foundation, where they are involved in various practices supporting individuals with disabilities. One of the activities they are assisting with is therapeutic horse riding, which helps promote physical and emotional well-being for the participants.

Student interning at the Wild Flower Home foundation where they empower single mothers in need by providing them with a safe space for healing, education, and resources to grow and uplift.

Student internship at the Sangsan Anakot Yaowachon Foundation, an ethnic minority and indigenous LGBTQ feminist-led organization. They empower indigenous women, girls, and young LGBTQ individuals.
