“Rx Cafe: Coffee As Prescribed” — is our cafe featuring shade grown, organic, fair-trade coffee.
Supporting villagers throughout Northern Thailand, our partner, Lanna Cafe, runs Rx Cafe on-site at ISDSI. Profits from the coffee go to support local livelihoods, village water systems, and other projects.
We built our cafe before the ISDSI building to help understand the process of working with shipping containers and steel construction. The cafe is built from a single 20 foot shipping container, with interior LED lighting and Vivaboard composite panels for walls, counters, and floors. The cafe is open air, and shaded by huge acacia trees (“rain trees”) on site. Between our gym (CrossFit Chiang Mai) and ISDSI, the cafe is a community gathering point for people on and off campus.
