It’s only Day 2 of language study for the students, but many of them can already introduce themselves, say basic phrases and count!

Thai language study at ISDSI is intensive with instruction only in Thai and minimal English used between students. However, with small class sizes (3-5 students) each student receives individual attention by the professor, and there’s also no lack of excitement as the students eagerly learn new words.  The students also have a high level of motivation as they know each new word brings them one step closer to more easily communicating with their host families and other people in the community.  

With students gaining conversational proficiency and also the ability to read and write basic Thai, it won’t be long before the students have the benefit of using their new Thai language skills in the expedition field!
