Openings for Thai field instructors and Academic lead instructors!

ISDSI has an opening for a Thai national field instructor position.  This is an exciting but demanding job, requiring excellent written and spoken English language and logistics skills, as well as a love of the outdoors, and an understanding of the grassroots struggles of local villagers and communities. The job is only partially based in the office, and will require backpacking into remote tribal villages, sea kayaking, skin diving, and other activities — all while leading a group of American university students and teaching and translating in the field. We require at least a B.A. or B.S. degree, with related work and job experience a plus. Fluency in Sgaw Karen also a plus. Download the job description and requirements here: www.isdsi.org/docs/field_instructor.pdf.  This is a full time position.

We also have an opening for a senior position for someone to teach as a Lead Instructor. This position is similar to a field instructor position, but as Academic Lead, the Lead Instructor is responsible for teaching one of our Expedition Field Courses — including teaching seminars during the first week of the block, as well as mid-course seminars and final exams.  Lead Instructors are responsible, along with Field Instructors, for grading essays and exams, and teaching at an upper division university level.  An M.A., M.S. or Ph.D. is required to apply. Download the job description and requirements here: www.isdsi.org/docs/lead_instructor.pdf. This is a full time OR part time position (e.g. teaching one course per semester).  We are primarily interested in someone qualified to teach our Forests course, but will consider Oceans or Agriculture as well.
