Rock Climbing @ Crazy Horse Buttress

Students have been in Chiang Mai for almost two weeks now. Mixed in with the adjustments to host family stays, orientation, and intensive Thai language learning, students got outside of the city for a chance to get outside.

Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures (CMRCA) hosted the group for a full day of exploring the rock faces and limestone caves at Crazy Horse Buttress. Students set goals and faced new challenges, climbing routes, rappelling, and completing a tyrolean traverse. They learned about local cave geology and focused on developing personal and team skills, laying a foundation for a healthy group dynamic during upcoming expedition field courses. When Thailand’s rainy season ushered in a downpour at Crazy Horse, students found shelter in a cave.

Overall it was a good first full day for students to experience an example of their outdoor classroom here in Thailand.
